Polycrete ® Pits
ACO’s Polycrete® Pits are manufactured from polymer concrete, rather than traditional cement-based compositions used in standard concrete pits.
By replacing cement binder with polymer resins, Polycrete® Pits achieve higher mechanical strengths, zero water absorption and improved chemical resistance, making them ideal as electrical and communications enclosures.
Lighter and therefore less cumbersome than conventional concrete pits, only large Polycrete® Pits require special lifting equipment.
Pit configuration and depth options
Polycrete® Pits are available in a wide range of standard sizes to suit different pit volumes and site requirements. Optional risers can be used to increase pit depth where required, allowing greater flexibility during design and installation. A maximum of two risers per cable pit is recommended.
Access, covers and surface integration
Polycrete® Pits are compatible with a broad selection of lids and solid top and recessed access covers. This allows pits to be specified for a range of surface finishes, including concrete, paved and tiled pavements, while maintaining safe and easy access. Recessed cover options support visual surface continuity in public and trafficable areas.
Installation considerations
Side walls are designed to allow conduit entry, with penetrations able to be formed where required to suit site-specific layouts. Wet cutting is recommended for clean conduit entry, and ACO technical guidance is available to advise on recommended pit sizes for various conduit configurations.
