Airport Precinct Multi-Part - Perth Airport WA

Perth Airport, located in Western Australia, is a major aviation hub supporting international, domestic, and general aviation operations. It is the fourth busiest airport in Australia by passenger movements. The airport precinct spans approximately 2,100 hectares and includes four passenger terminals and two runways, supporting high-capacity aircraft operations and complex infrastructure.

Project Design Brief

Western Power manages the electrical network supplying the Perth Airport precinct, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This includes large distribution pits that branch electrical services across the site. One pit, located in a high-traffic roadway, required replacement of its aging multi-part cover. Due to frequent high-speed, heavy vehicle loads,
the new cover system needed to be highly durable and load-rated for airport-grade traffic while maintaining accessibility and structural integrity.

ACO's Solution

  • 12-part Rhinocast Infill multi-part access cover system.
  • ACO Technical Services provided the structural designer with a detailed rebate drawing for the 12-part access cover to be incorporated into the road pavement.

Benefits

  • The Class D (AS 3996) covers are rated to withstand vehicular traffic.
  • All individual covers were securely bolted to their adjoining frame for vehicular safety.
